Brett Baker
Group Facilitator
Greetings, my name is Brett Melvin Baker from the Three Affiliated Tribes on the Fort Berthold reservation in North Dakota. The three tribes are comprised of the Mandan (Nueta), Hidatsa, and Arikara (Sahnish), and I represent both Mandan and Hidatsa. I grew up on the Fort Berthold reservation and lived there for the first 21 years of my life. I moved to Arizona for 10 years, moved back home for 7 years, and then moved back to Arizona because I loved it so much. Upon earning my Associates of Science in Business Management from our local tribal college, Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College, I decided to continue my education. I have since acquired my Bachelor's degree in Management, a Master’s degree in Legal Studies with an emphasis in Tribal and Criminal Law, and an additional Master’s degree in Human Resources and Employment Law. I have worked for and gave back to the Native community that helped to raise me. I believe that I demonstrate an ongoing experience working in and with Native American communities and a commitment to using my legal education to continue to do so.
